Chloride trip

Located in the hills behind Chloride are the famous Purcell Murals painted by the artist Roy Purcell in 1966. These murals are well worth the mile and a half drive on a dirt road. Roy was a prospector with time on his hands, so he painted some scenes on the face of the boulders in the area. The Murals have held up well during the past 30 years, and the colors remain vibrant. Roy Purcell is well recognized throughout the Southwest for his artwork. Chloride is about 15 mi N of Kingman on 95, then 5 miles east into the mtns. We were there early and the light was really good for these photos. It was kind of wierd meeting two other partys from Washington there (we were the only ones there) all from Washington converging on the same coordinates at the same time. (just click on a photo in the slide show and you will be transferred to my webshots where you can see the full size image)
